Question:  How many bars of cell power do I need for reliable operation?
Answer:
There are four bars indicating receive signal strength on the Cv3. One bar is minimum
power, but two bars or more are recommended.
If there is weak cellular coverage in your location, you may need an additional
antenna.

Question:  I am replacing an old Cv2 with a ProTalk Cv3. Is the wiring identical
and can I just plug the terminal blocks into the Cv3?
Answer:
No. The wiring for both power and alarm inputs has changed. The Cv3 has 10 alarm
inputs; six inputs are single wire and four inputs are 2 wire inputs. The two wire inputs require only the + or - terminal be wired when configured as a digital type.

Question:  How can I tell if there was an alarm in the Cv3 and if it was acknowledged?
Answer:
The ProTalk Cv3 has an internal Event Logger, which records all activities within the alarm reporting unit. When connected to the Cv3, the event log can be retrieved using the Cv3 Configuration Software.
Question:  How can I tell that the ProTalk Cv3 is operational other than calling
into it?
Answer:
The ProTalk Cv3 has an internal Health Reporting System. By enabling this feature,
the Cv3 will contact you by Radio Announcement, Voice Call or Text Message. The
frequency of the calls is user configurable.
Question:  I want to use solar power. Is this possible?
Answer:
Yes. The Cv3 can be operated in a solar site. There is an integrated low power mode
that, when enabled, will turn off all unnecessary features until an alarm occurs.
Question:  I want to have a battery backup for my Cv3. What options are available?
Answer:
There are two battery backup options available for the ProTalk Cv3: An internal
battery backup and an external battery backup.
The internal battery backup will provide sufficient backup power to operate your
Cv3 until power is restored. If there are more devices that require battery backup
than just the Cv3, there is a high capacity B1252 7 A H battery backup available.

Question:  How do I change a phone number using a touch tone phone?
Answer:
Enter 2** when prompted for a program code (wait several seconds after "Enter Command
Code" is spoken). When "Enter Directory" is spoken, press 1** for Directory 1, 2**
for Directory 2, etc. After a directory is chosen, press ** to cycle through each
line until you locate the desired number. Press 2** to overwrite the number, and
after the beep is heard, enter a new phone number followed by ** for a simple voice call. The
Cv3 will then play back the number. If the number entered is satisfactory, simply
hang up, or press ** until the next number to be changed is located.
Question:  Why doesn't the Cv3 call out when an alarm is present?
Answer:
Check for an RSSI reading of at least one bar. Also verify that the SID and PRL correspond
to the mobile network your Cv3 is provisioned on.
IE. Telus PRL = 11951
TELUS SID = 16384
RSSI = 15
If these readings are not present, please fill out a Return Materials Authorization
form and ship the unit back to us for evaluation.
Question:  What type of antenna can I use?
Answer:
In order for the Cv3 to successfully place cellular calls there must be adequate
signal strength at its antenna port. The dual-band flex antenna supplied with the
Cv3 is suitable for installations where there is sufficient signal strength at the
location where the Cv3 and antenna are installed.
If the signal strength is not sufficient and you need another antenna solution,
please see the
Antennas
for more information.
Question:  Is my Cv3 already activated on a mobile network?
Answer:
No, we ship Cv3's for a specific network, but they are not activated. You will need to contact your wireless provider and give them the ESN (electronic serial number) of the Cv3. They will give you a MIN (mobile identification number) for you to program into the Cv3. You only require a basic voice account for this product to work.
Question:  Why can't I acknowledge any alarms?
Answer:
Check the user voices for any tones recorded at the end. If a tone is present, the voice will need to be re-recorded.
Instead of pressing ** after the voice is spoken, wait a moment. The Cv3 will detect the silence and playback the voice you have recorded.
Question:  Can I switch mobile service providers and keep the same phone number?
Answer:
Yes.
In order to do this, your service provider must specify both the MIN and MDN numbers for your Cv3. These numbers can be programmed into the Cv3 using the latest software.
Question:  Why can't I program a new MIN and MDN into my Cv3?
Answer:
Before you attempt to program a new MIN and MDN into your Cv3, ensure that there are no active alarms. All of the LED's on the Cv3 should be green before programming a new MIN and MDN.
Question:  I have a solar powered site and need to know how much power my Cv3 draws when idle.
Answer:
The Cv3 draws approximately 40mA in an idle state.
